Louanne C. Cassidy, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Huntley, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her home following a short illness.
She was born December 25, 1932 in Chicago, the daughter of Alvin and Lucile (Waters) Acosta. She was raised and educated in Chicago, graduating from St. Aquinas High School. She was united in marriage to Joseph E. Cassidy on April 14, 1956. The couple made their home in Lindenhurst where they raised their family. Louanne worked for the phone company for a time and later as an accounting manager for the State of Illinois in the student loan office for many years, retiring in early 1990’s. She lived for a time in Buffalo Grove and in 2009 moved to Huntley. She was very active in the Catholic Churches in the communities in which she lived and had a special place in her heart for the Catholic Charities. She had cared for her mother Lucile and Aunt Ruth for many years as they needed assistance, was devoted to her grandchildren and loved her dog, Lola. She was an artist at heart, sewing, painting, loved classical music and opera and had a tremendous green thumb.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Jay) Cassidy-Fayer of Crystal Lake, Joellen (Robert) Kerger of Bartlett and Ruthmary (Kimo) Treadway of Huntley, her grandchildren, Alex, Megan, Colleen, Nick & Erin and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the Godmother to Mary Lynn Bowling. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Genie and Judy and her brother, Alvin.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and on Saturday, June 18th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
