Ethel I. Burns, 89 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Friday evening, June 17, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 14, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of John O. and Francis (Nyman) Ahlin. She was raised and educated in Chicago and on May 23, 1953, was united in marriage to Donald H. Burns. The couple made their home in Des Plaines were they raised their family. In the early 2000’s they moved to Huntley. Ethel loved traveling and she and her husband toured all 50 states. She was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed the winter months in Florida, loved puzzles and made family the center of her attention.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Huntley, her daughter, Janice Burns of Woodstock, her sons, James (Nancy) Burns of Noblesville, Indiana and William (Sue) Burns of Cary, her grandchildren, Brian (Katie), Laura (Bradley) and Andrew, her great-grandchildren, Titus, Gabriel, Sophia and Levi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John and two sisters, Jenny and LaVerne.
