James W. Bartunek, 74, of Sun City, Huntley, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, July 10, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 19, 1942 in Chicago, the son of James J. and Irene (Forest) Bartunek. He was raised in Cicero and later La Grange Park, graduating from Riverside-Brookfield High school in 1960. He attended Morton Junior College then Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where he obtained his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. He worked twenty-seven years for Zenith Electronics. He was united in marriage to Lois M. Zaher on February 4, 1967. The couple made their home in Hinsdale and later Schaumburg where they raised their family. In later years, Jim worked for Apollo Plastics and later he retired from Nexus Distributing. In 2004 the couple moved to Huntley. He particularly enjoyed fishing and woodworking, boating and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Huntley, daughter, Helen (Robert) MacMillan of Algonquin, son, Jay (Nicole) Bartunek of Huntley, his grandchildren, Justin, Hayley, Claudia, Jayden & R.J. and his sister, Janet (John) Arnold of Schaumburg. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 14th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal House Shelter in Huntley or the Kidney Cancer Association, www.kidneycancer.org
