Joan M. Kimminau, 82 of Huntley, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Elgin following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 15, 1934 in Chicago, the daughter of Herbert and Lena (Stack) Boehning. She had worked as a receptionist in the medical field for many years. On June 5, 1982, she was united in marriage to Ferdinand F. Kimminau. She loved family and children above all else. She also enjoyed crafting, quilting and baking for her family, friends, and the Shepherd of the Prairie, community.
She is survived by her husband, Ferdinand; her daughters, Linda Rossnagel of St. Charles and Sandra (Frank) Szmajda of Elgin; her step-children, Deborah (Mark) Binter of Downers Grove, Ferdinand Jr. (Patty) Kimminau of Carpentersville, Michael Kimminau of Aurora and Kathleen Monday of Huntley; her twelve grandchildren include; Lena and Will Fajardo, Alek and Anne Szmajda, Eric and Scott Binter, Kyle, Randall, Michael and Caitlin Kimminau and Bobby and Katie Liming; her sister, Joyce Re’ and her niece, Cheryl Meriwether both of San Diego. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Donald.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13th at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
