Obituary

Donald R. Thomson, 86 of Huntley, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Advocate Sherman West Court in Elgin following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 20, 1930 in Chicago, the son of James C. and Alice (Matson) Thomson. He was raised in Norwood Park and graduated from Taft High School, he received his bachelor’s in business from Northwestern University. He was married to Jacquelyn B. Baley on November 3, 1956. Don worked in the construction industry as a buyer for Material Service for over 30 years. On December 27, 1980 he was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Duncan Brandl. The couple made their home in Park Ridge and in 2003 moved to Huntley. Don especially enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Huntley, his daughters, Katherine (Vincent Clemente) Quattrocchi of Aurora, Diane (Kevin) McArdle of Barrington, his grandchildren, Katherine, Julie, Charles, Teagan & Teia Chun-Hong. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard J.D. Brandl, his brother, James and his sister, JoAnn.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2nd at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donald Thomson Family.
