Obituary

Karen Webb, 76 of Huntley died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home, August 30, 2016.
A memorial service will be held September 24, 2016 at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Heifer International (heifer.org).

Karen was born June 28, 1940, to Ted and Metha Loye. On January 27, 1962 she married Robert Edwin Webb. She had numerous careers and was never afraid to start over. She started as a nurse and ended as a United flight attendant. She touched many lives and, if you met her once, there was a good chance she would become a longtime friend. She was very creative; you could not just paint a wall, you transformed the wall into art. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, and had boundless energy. She was a member of the Sun City French Club and Book Club.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, her children, Laura (Peter) Helstrom, Linda (John) Gray, and Rob (Cathy) Webb, her grandchildren, Adam, Abby, Kevin and Jack, her sister in-law Margie (Sam) Valenti, nephews Sam and Marc. She is preceded in death by her parents and Aunt Lil.

I will always have fond memories of extended family get togethers. She was a gracious host even to a couple of rambunctious 2nd cousins. I was sad to hear about her sudden passing. I hope that you are finding comfort and strength in the Lord and your wonderful family.

Having a friend, like Karen, for 65 years is a gift - all we did and shared together are embedded in my being. Bob’s shocking news of dear Karen’s death instantly put me back to the day Karen’s grandmother had opened the front door of their East End apartment to let me in; her news, as I stood on the staircase, that Karen was in the hospital with polio, was shocking! Just days before, as we often, during summer, had happily ridden our bikes to Rainbow Beach, spent the day swimming and lolling on the sand, before returning, innocently, home. When finally at home, Karen told me of her insistence in not being put into an iron lung. She felt her life depended on this! It was then that I learned of Karen’s strength and her determination to overcome and DO! Though her physical presence will be missed, I will say no farewell, for Karen will remain - always - present in my heart and many memories. My wishes are the same for each loved one and friend.

Bob it is hard to put into words my thoughts about you and Karen.....As Karen and I went through flight school training together and grew to be great friends.. You and Karen taken me into your home while I was flying out of Chicago, all the good times we had together playing golf with Rob, watching TV and eating some great food. Karen and all the things you and she did for me will live in my memories forever. My prayers are with you and your family. God bless
