Erika E. Turner, 80 of Crystal Lake, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Friday morning, October 7, 2016 following a lengthy illness in Crystal Lake.
She was born March 28, 1936 in the German settled area of Kikinda,Yugoslavia, the daughter of Nikolaus and Elisabeth (Becker) Friko. She came to the United States at an early age with her family and they made their home in Albany, Wisconsin and later Chicago. She was united in marriage to Anton L. “Tony” Turner on July 27, 1969. The couple made their home on the north side of Chicago for many years. In 2011 she moved to Crystal Lake. Erika was very active in caring for her mother and later helping babysit her grandchildren. She loved nature, walking, gardening and being outdoors.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Lori) Turner of Huntley, her grandchildren, Ashley, Evan, Kaitlin and Lindsay, and sister, Catherine (John) Rebel in Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. and the family will greet friends after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
