Donna Lee Johnston, 76 of Huntley, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 13, 1940 in Portsmouth, Ohio the daughter of Donald and Rosalie (McBrayer) McGohan. After going back to obtain her Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees, she was employed in the field of social work for many years. She also took pride in being a talented & accomplished artist, specializing in watercolor.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Huntley; Children, Brian (Traci) Johnston of Round Lake Beach, Jeffrey (Kathi) Johnston of New Hampton, Iowa, Melissa (Catherine) Johnston of Naperville and Kari Huffman of New Hampton, Iowa; Grandchildren, Taylor, Teagan, Sheridan, Ian, Simon, Oliver and Kennedy, Siblings, James (Helen) McGohan of Northbrook and Margaret (William) Hafer of Frankfort; Sister-in-laws, Julie (Fred) Niehaus of Colorado and Jan (James) Gorska of Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 11th at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley. The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. and the will follow at 11:00 a.m. Please wear purple. Donna was my buddy. I think we were closest because we were born the same year. We loved to go to Aunt Beaulah's and hang out. Aunt Beaulah was such a fun and upbeat Aunt to be around. We had a wonderful family. I always loved all my cousins.
