Obituary

T.J. Tucker, 85 of Union, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 31, 1926 in Boaz, Kentucky the son of Onzo and Mallie (Glover) Tucker. He was raised and educated in Kentucky then joined the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Erma E. Wempe on November 27, 1948 in Chicago, where they made their home. T.J. worked as a welder, mechanic, had driven trucks, owned his own truck and for a while a service station. In 1998 they moved to Union and in his retirement he worked for Dimensional Technology. His friends and family were extremely important to him. He was a good story teller, loved fishing, tinkering, tractors, garage sales and animals, especially chickens and dogs.
T.J. is survived by his wife, Erma of Union, his daughters, Cheryl (John) Caron of Bloomingdale, IL, Carlin (Roger) Anderson of Glendive, MT, Dena (Paul) Basselen of Huntley, his grandchildren, John Scott Jr., Erin, Georgia, Stacy, Andrea, Barbara, Roger Jr., Dawn, Sarah, Arvid, Brandon, Skyler & Whitney, his great-grandchildren, Abbie, Ethan, Madison, David, Emma, Matthew, Jimmy & Brianna, his sister, Linda Sue Norwood of Boaz, KY, his adopted sons, Kenny Glanz & Jon Arveson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main Street in Union. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Folsomdale, Kentucky.
