Bounmy Phakdy, 79, of Elgin, passed away at his home on Monday, April 24, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 17, 1937 in Laos, the son of Vanta and Pou Phakdy. He served in the Laos Police for five years and then the Laos Army during the Vietnam War. He was married to Nouphone Phakdy and in 1987 they moved to the United States. Bounmy worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Smith and Richardson Manufacturing in Geneva for twenty years, retiring in 2007. He especially enjoyed gardening and time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nouphone of Elgin, his daughters, Sirilack (Attie Ratsavongsy) Phakdy, Siriphone (Scott Ahlschlager) Phakdy of Virginia Beach, Virginia, his son, Bounphithak Phakdy of Elgin, his granddaughters, Kylin, Nolin, Kylie and Piper and his eight brothers and sisters.
