Obituary

Marion J. LaFever, 97 of Huntley, formerly of Rockford, Illinois, passed away surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter in Huntley, Illinois on Friday, April 28, 2017 following a long illness.

She was born July 25, 1919 in Marinette, Wisconsin, the daughter of Herman David and Hazel (Gervais) Wagner. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to F. Jack LaFever on October 23, 1939 in Marinette, Wisconsin. The couple made their home in Rockford, Illinois and were married for 73 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Rockford for 66 years. She especially enjoyed her family, the time they spent together and the color pink.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Karen (Deacon Louis) Farinella of Huntley, IL, her grandchildren, Kristine (Andrew) Hahn, Michelle (Matthew) Krol, Jennifer (William) Tichenor & Nicole (Keith) Cafillio, her great-grandchildren, Allyson Hahn, Ethan, Aiden, Beckham, Liam & Griffin Krol, Luis, Mikayla, Nicolas, Evan Tichenor and a great-grandchild Cafillio to arrive in October, her brother, Lee (Carol) Wagner and her sister, Lois (Ed) Pristel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her brother, Ralph.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 5th at 10:00 a.m. and the family will greet friends after 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9th in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to JourneyCare Foundation or for Mass offerings in her name.
