Obituary

Roland W. Racette, 71 of Lake in The Hills, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, May 31, 2012, at Centegra Hospital in Woodstock.
Roland was born May 21, 1941 in Chicago, the son of Roland and Caroline (Matuga) Racette. He was raised and educated in Chicago and then enlisted in the United States Army. Following his discharge he attended seminary in Missouri and then began an occupation in sales and purchasing in the industrial food industry. He was united in marriage to Barbara Wolf on April 16, 1965. The couple made their home in Chicago and in 1976 moved to Glendale Heights. Barbara passed away in 1997 and on June 13, 1998 he married Susan W. Gage in Elgin. The couple lived in Glendale Heights until moving to Lake in The Hills in 2001. Roland was currently employed as a sales manager for Xena International. He was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed tracking weather, collecting stamps and various fire departments memorabilia. He enjoyed travel, his dogs, Cammy & Cubby and was a very competitive Bocci Ball and Baggo player.
Roland is survived by his dear wife, Sue of Lake In The Hills, his loving daughters, Christine (Tony) Johnson of Prairie Grove, Cindy (Brad) Johnson of Algonquin, his special step-daughter, Whitney (Eric) Nims of Burtons Bridge, Il, his adoring grandchildren, Stephanie, Connor & Austin, he is also survived by his sister, Caroline Garceau of Worth, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Barbara.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3rd, with a Service of Remembrance at 4:00 p.m. all at DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, all are encouraged to wear Cubs attire. Memorials may be made to Roland Racette Memorial Fund.

i was very shocked to hear about Rolands passing. Our company enjoyed a business relationship with Roland for over 30 years and he will be sorely missed. Sympathies to his loved ones. He will be remembered as an honorable and forthright man.

I am so thankful for the years we had together. I love you and miss you so much. Whitney, Eric and, of course, Cammy and Cubby miss you so much too. Although I could never be the loyal Cub fan that you were were, i will now root for their success in your absence!
