Dorothy A. Janisch, 86, of Algonquin, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock.
She was born February 2, 1931, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the daughter of Edmund and Georgann (Wood) Karibo. She was raised and graduated from high school in Belleville, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Charles Vernon “Vern” Janisch on June 12, 1954. The couple moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Vern served in the Army. They returned to Belleville and began raising their family there, then later moved to Chicago, Detroit, and Washington DC. In 1992, they retired and moved to Algonquin. Dorothy loved to travel and especially enjoyed the couple’s yearly trips to Europe. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and music. She volunteered to read stories to preschool children, a task she truly enjoyed. Her most treasured times were spent with her grandchildren and being present for their activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Janisch of Algonquin, her son, Tom Janisch and his partner Jonathon Gonzalez of Atlanta, Georgia, her cherished grandsons, Alex, Austin, and Matthew, and her brother James (Bobbie) Karibo of Inverness, Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vern, her sisters Mary Karibo, Joean Rossman-Weith, and Helen Bell, and her brothers Edmund Karibo and Richard Karibo.

Aunt Dorothy was such a gem of a lady. I loved her, as all the Karibo family and extended family. We were so blessed to be part of this special family, for which I'll always and forever be grateful. All my love - Debbie
