Albert D. Brownstein, 92 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Rosewood Care Center in Elgin.
He was born March 30, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Nathan and Rose (Geller) Brownstein and raised on the west side. He was drafted into the United States Army and served during WWII in the Philippines as a combat medic and later the Occupation of Japan. Following the war, he returned to Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Wojtach on February 7, 1959. The couple made their home in Chicago where they raised their family and Albert worked as a field representative for the Social Security Administration. In 1999, the couple moved to Huntley and he enjoyed fishing, painting and reading in his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Huntley, his children, Laura (Rick) Barr of Elmwood Park, David (Erica) Brownstein of Columbus, Ohio and Diane (Steve) Davis of Palmyra, Wisconsin and his four grandchildren, Amelia & Nathan Brownstein, Emma and Sydney Davis.
A Memorial Gathering followed by military rites will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 30th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
