Obituary

Thomas R. Iverson, 76 of Lake in the Hills, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 14, 2017 following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 9, 1941, in Bemidji, Minnesota, the son of Melvin and Dolly (Dunbar) Iverson. He was raised and educated in Bemidji and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in San Diego on the U.S.S. Sperry. He was united in marriage to Joyce A. Marmitt on August 25, 1962. In 1964, they moved to Chicago and he worked for Bell and Howell for many years. The couple moved to Mount Prospect where they raised their family and made their home for 34 years. Thomas later worked for Hughes Aircraft and Primax Industries before retiring in 2003. In 2006, they moved to Lake in the Hills where he enjoyed oil painting, reading and watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Thomas was also an antique car and truck enthusiast. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lake in the Hills, his children, Donna (Aldo) Diorio of Cary, Christopher (Itzel) Iverson of Mundelein, his grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Adrian & Daniel, his step-mother, Mary Iverson of Bemidji, his sisters, Janet Turban of International Falls, MN and Sharon (Harlan) Tardy of Nashwauk, MN and sister-in-law, Marlene Wildi and also by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott Gerard, daughter, Carrie Ann and brother, Randy.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 21st at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred or donations to the St. Mary, St. Vincent DePaul Society in Huntley. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I personally know the loss of a loved one, and the pain can seem overwhelming. However I found comfort in the Bible's promise for the future. Acts 24:15 speaks of a resurrection, a time when God will reunite us with our loved ones again! I hope this helps bring some comfort in this time of sorrow.
