Thomas E. Duffy, M.D., 73 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away at Centegra Hospital in Huntley on Thursday morning, December 21, 2017 following a short illness.
He was born June 30, 1944 in Teaneck, New Jersey, the son of Dr. Joseph and Carol (Uthoff) Duffy. He moved to Chicago for his medical residency at Rush Medical Center and worked for 40 years as a physician of emergency medicine in the Chicago and Wisconsin area. He was united in marriage to Kathryn M. Masa on July 14, 1977. The couple made their home in River Forest, Lake Geneva and in 2000 they moved to Huntley. In his free time, Tom was passionate about gardening. He was a devoted medical doctor who touched the lives of many and was a proud United States Army veteran. He was a member of the Benjamin Rush Society at Rush Medical Center and an active member of St Mary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn, he was the loving father and step-father of Gregory Christian of Springfield, Constance Christian (Stephen Rowley) of Glenview, Nancy Christian of Chicago, Barbara (Walter) Hennesen of Mission Viejo, California, Julie (Robert) Zeller of Loveland, Colorado, Susan (Paul) Pearson of Brandon, Florida, Christian Cristiano of Los Angeles, Patricia Duffy and Colleen Duffy, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Patricia (the late John) Murphy of Cape May, New Jersey and Kathleen (Steve) Frangos of The Villages, Florida. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Christian and his brother, Joseph.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. and the family will greet friends after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3rd at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307

Dr Duffy was a kind man and took very good care of my daughter over the last 10 years during various urgent situations. I was very saddened today when I heard of his passing as he made a real impact in our lives. Prayers to your family.
