Obituary

Dennis G. Hayes, 76 of Huntley, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 14, 1941 in Chicago, the son of Francis and Alice (Wozny) Hayes. He was raised and educated in Chicago and then enlisted in the United States Marines. He married his grade school sweetheart, Patricia J. McMahon on August 25, 1962. The couple made their home in Chicago where they raised their family. Dennis worked as a police officer for 38 years for the Chicago Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in 2003. He enjoyed golf, watching sports and mostly time spent together with family. He was a proud and loving Grandpa and Great-Grandpa

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Huntley, his children, Debra (Peter) Bianchi of Lake In The Hills, Dennis Hayes, David (Mary) Hayes and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Lucius all of Huntley, his grandchildren, Kristin (Nick), Melissa (Brock), Ashlee (Edgar), Peter, Nicholle, Jeffrey, Matthew, Rebecca and Natalie, his step-grandchildren, Victor and Tiffany, his great-grandchildren, Brock, Scarlett, Lucas, Nicholas, Ella, Colten, Cooper, Averie and Jackson. He was also the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, two sisters and his parents.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley on Monday, January 29th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Another good man has left this world. Denny was a good man and a good Sergeant. He truly cared about people. He will be missed. He is now part of God's Police Force. God Bless.
